Social skills through baking

At BestStart Vivian Street we are bringing our "A game" by involving the children in baking for their afternoon tea.  Today the infants helped make banana muffins, using the left over bananas from afternoon tea.

Through baking, children learn social competency skills such as using their patience, taking turns, negotiating, watching for their opportunity and sharing their ideas. As the children mix the ingredients they are using their hand eye coordination and learn about left and right as they stir the mixture whilst their teacher talks with them.
