At BestStart Parklands kaiako (teachers) are passionate to support nga tamariki (children) and their whānau to have a sense of belonging at our centre and we acknowledge the importance of weaving nga tamariki culture into all aspects of our curriculum. We were excited that one of our tamariki was able to invite his grandad and his friend to come and introduce us to some wonderful songs sung in Samoan to support our focus around Samoan Language Week recently. Some of our tamariki recognised songs that they sing at home, and we loved learning these and dancing to the beat. We even got to have a turn on the instruments Hendrix's Grandad and his friend were playing. Kaiako valued this wonderful experience as an important part of our vision here at BestStart Parklands of Belonging,  Being, Becoming....Me!
