We love science at BestStart Tauranga Central! Through active exploration, children explored sounds.  We had many science opportunities focusing on how sound travels.  Children made cup phones and learnt about two-way conversations of listening and then waiting for a turn to speak.  We made our own water xylophone, experimenting with different volumes and the variety of sounds they make.  This provoked lots of questioning and discover as children increased their knowledge and understandings.  We set out on a Sound Hunt, discussing in groups the different sounds we could hear inside and outside and followed a chart to search for particular noises.  And of course, we had our musical instruments out all day where we enjoyed singing some songs or just being expressive.
