Spring has been a great time to explore our front garden and give it a revamp.

We have been looking at the parts of a flower and what they need to survive.

The children have had access to different picture cards highlighting each part of the flower and its purpose. They have been independently working with this and some of our older children have been writing the parts of the flower on their picture.

We have also explored planting our own little gardens which were gifted to us by a wonderful parent.

We have this material also set up on the shelf for children to independently plant their own garden - once they begin to sprout they can take them home. We are reminding our tamariki to water them every day and bringing them back to what a flower needs to stay alive.

We took the time to look at our native trees that we have planted - and discovered our Harakeke has started to flower. We are hoping we may see some Tui visiting to eat some of the nectar.

The tamariki also pulled out all the dead Daffodils and explored the parts of a plant in real life. It was fantastic to see. They used some amazing upper body strength because it wasn't easy!!

Looking forward to seeing what insects we discover also.
