It is finally spring time here at BestStart Highfield. The tamariki have enjoyed watching our gardens as they thaw out and begin to blossom. We are patiently waiting for our lettuce to grow so that we can make our own yummy salads again. We have been providing lots of learning experiences around the topic of spring.

Our tamariki have learnt that it symbolises new life and growth. We have been enjoying the longer sunnier days with lots of outside exploration and water play. It has been so nice to be able to sit out in the sun having picnics with our friends and being engaged in beautiful chats. The tamariki love transporting water around the playground and often build lots of mud pies in the sandpit. We have even had days where we can race around and squirt each other with the hose.

With the warmer weather it means that we will be able to get back out into the community. We have already begun to plan for a trip to visit our local rest home and coffee shop. This is something we are planning with our kura group and the tamariki are very excited about.
