Starting school soon?
It is great to see transitions to school are still a priority under the Covid framework for schools.
We have great relationships with our local schools and the new entrant teachers come into the centre for visits. The children and their families then spend some mornings in the school classroom before starting. If their parents can't take them then we will take a group with a teacher from Kindy.
We are very proud of the feedback from the local schools that our children transition so smoothly into the school environment.
The transition from Kindy to school is supported when the school:
- fosters a child’s relationships with teachers and other children and affirms their identity.
- builds on the learning experiences that the child brings with them.
- considers the child’s whole experience of school.
- Is welcoming of family and whanau.
