Over the last couple of weeks, the Parkside Nursery family have been focusing on the STEAM initiative. The tamariki have been learning and discovering how things work, and there has been a strong interest in working out how the gears activity works. These allow the tamariki to think about placement, how the gears turn as well as enriching language and vocab through interactions.

STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. Each of STEAM's five subjects share a common approach and focus. They require gathering and using evidence to create knowledge or solve problems. STEAM learning happens naturally everyday as children explore, play, and try new things.STEAM is important because it helps teachers incorporate multiple disciplines at the same time and promotes learning experiences that allow children to explore, question, research, discover, and exercise innovative building skills
