Stepping It Out
At BestStart Marshland Road we love to include as many motor skill activities in our play as we can. We have a set of stepping shapes that are all shapes and sizes and we set them out in different ways to challenge the children and to help them learn and refine skills. They often begin tentatively, with one foot and then with some support and encouragement are using both feet, stepping and even trying to jump across. We also use them on different surfaces and use them to talk about colours, shapes and children explore at their own pace with encouragement and guidance and we even have children who like to stack them together. It is such a fun activity and stacked full of learning potential!
