Today we had an Ambulance Officer, Susan from St John's come in to visit BestStart Willowpark Road!

Susan was amazing and shared some first aid tips and tricks with us all. She also lead an awesome story time for our tamariki and kaiako.

She showed us some of the useful and important accessories that Ambulance Officers use when they are attending to emergency situations. Tamariki and Kaiako got to check out some safety hats, high visibility vests and bandages.

Our tamariki were so fortunate to be able to try on this special equipment and felt super important while doing so. Susan was able to teach us how to stop bleeding if we cut ourselves and how to bandage up our wounds if we need to.

Tamariki learnt how to put one of our kaiako into the recovery position when she was found laying in the playground and couldn't be woken up! We listened carefully to a story and then Susan said we all were "Super first aiders". Tamariki finished by thanking Susan in our special Willowpark style by performing "Papatūānuku".

It was a fantastic hui time and tamariki loved meeting someone from our community.
