Here at BestStart Morrinsville, we love summer time and being in our swimming pool, sprinkler, and using our waterslide.
We have had lots of koorero around water safety, sun safety, and being aware of our surroundings while in these areas.
Our kaiako are committed to fulfilling our Sun Smart Policy by ensure sunblock is applied correctly, clothing is sun-appropriate, and drinking water is provided throughout the centre, throughout the day.
Because of this, we have been awarded with becoming a Sun Smart school alongside the Cancer Society. To gain this award, we need to have been implementing a comprehensive sun protection policy that meets the criteria set out by the Cancer Society.
Alongside this, we also encourage our whaanau and tamariki to apply their own sunblock, with supervision to ensure it is all applied correctly. This works towards our centre priorities of getting Set for School and enhancing emotional resilience.
During lunch times, our tamariki get excited to go back out into the sun and enjoy some cold water play. Our centre also provides an indoor-outdoor flow to ensure tamariki and kaiako have the opportunity to be outside in the sunshine or inside, cooling off.
