Summer is here
Summer is here and with the beautiful weather this is the perfect time for ice and water play to cool off. These are some of our favourite activities our youngest tamariki here at BestStart Te Awamutu love to take part in. Tamariki use these experiences to develop their creativity and imagination. Ice and water play is both enjoyable and educational. Water and ice sensory play is one of the purest forms of exploratory learning as tamariki use all five senses to process information.
Sensory exploration also encourages tamariki to manipulate and mold materials, building up their fine motor skills and coordination. Their self-esteem, language development and social skills are further supported as tamariki learn from each other, developing their sense of independence and confidence in their own actions and surroundings.
These activities support BestStart Te Awamutu’s philosophy with our fantastic activities and outdoor environment. Tamariki are empowered to extend their learning, explore there working theories and create their own understanding of the world around them.
