How fantastic to make use of sunlight to do drawings! It inspires our young children to think creatively and try new things.

Today at BestStart Pukuatua is such a perfect sunny day for shadow drawing. Instead of drawing on a table inside as we usually would, we decided to take our paper, toy animals and crayons outside and lay down in a sunny spot to engage in art. Our tamariki tried different ways to figure out how to make shadows, which supports the stimulatation of our children's scientific minds to make sense of the natural phenomenon of our world. Except for shadow-making, drawing shadows also promotes our tamariki’s fine motor skills for future writing and creative art experiences.
