Working alongside BestStart’s Be Ready for School Programme which is an initiative to support our older children at BestStart Oraha Road to be excited and prepared for continuous learning.

As teachers we do this by supporting children to be creative and critical in their thought processes throughout their day. We provide experiences that introduce children to early concepts of maths, science, art, reading and other curriculum areas.

At BestStart Oraha Road we nurture children to become confident by supporting them to think clearly and solve problems, to have the confidence to ask questions and expand their knowledge.

It’s well known that children who start school feeling confident and capable are better placed to have learning success for life. We want that for your child!

To work alongside our Be Ready for School Programme the teachers in the Investigators Room have introduced Lunch Box Days. These special days happen every three weeks and provide our older children (our four-year-olds) with the opportunity to bring delicious, healthy and nutritious meals to have for morning tea and lunch.

Lunch box day helps prepare our children for the changes and challenges of Primary School. Lunch box day supports children to learn about healthy food choices, eating our healthy food first, making the lunch box last all day. Having lunch box days also supports children’s fine motor skills by supporting them to open packets of food and containers by themselves.

The children all really enjoy the special event every week and look forward to their fourth birthday knowing they will get to join in too.
