Talk like a Pirate Day 2023 at BestStart Somerset
Tuesday 19th of September was international "Talk Like a Pirate Day" and BestStart Somerset celebrated this in style! We had a best-dressed pirate competition, our tamariki had a blast searching for booty in a fun-filled treasure hunt, everyone received their very own pirate names, and of course - we learnt how to talk like real pirates.
This was such a fun way for ngā tamariki to explore the fun side of history and we even learnt a new pirate song!
"When I was one, I sucked my thumb, The day I went to sea. I climbed aboard a pirate ship and the Captain said to me: ‘We’re going this way, that way, Forwards backwards, Over the Irish Sea.
