As part of the Preschool rooms school holiday program, the kaiako (teachers) decided to challenge the senses of tamariki (children) by having a blindfolded taste test.

All of the tamariki were very excited, using their sense to touch, smell and taste to try to figure out what it was that was on the plate.

There were some familiar tastes, like marmite and cheese - which were guessed almost immediately! There were also other foods like cornflakes and vanilla essence which the tamariki found a little more challenging to guess.

There was some fantastic language used by the tamariki as they described what it was that they were tasting - 'soft', 'crunchy', 'sweet'

We were so proud to see our tamariki step outside of their comfort zone and try something new.
