Team Work With Loose Parts
Earlier this week we had some amazing problem solving and teamwork being displayed in our playground as a group of friends created a playground from a collection of loose parts, tyres, planks, grass and building blocks. The children talked with each other and moved the parts around so they could walk between and around tyres, a great example of how the children within the Forest are engaging with loose parts in all areas of the environment.
Learning happening here: As well as developing social skills and leadership abilities, the tamariki are developing their working theories around spatial awareness and as they worked out what was needed to achieve their goals. Tamariki boosted each other's mana as they followed their hoa (friends') instructions and ideas.
