At BestStart Katikati we provide a learning rich environment for all aged children to actively explore. One of our favourite things we like to do is explore our senses, and this month our under two tamariki have had a blast investigating and discovering lots of different textures. From soft paint to silky playdough, to bubbly cool water and more.

Sensory play is not only great fun, but it also creates a space for children to work alongside one another, where they can gain confidence and independence through active exploration, it supports their social and emotional competence as they begin to learn about sharing and taking turns, and sensory play fosters children's communication skills, as they discover and develop different ways to be creative and expressive.

Our children are enjoying the learning experiences provided and we have noticed how their play is strengthening their friendships and trust as they enjoy working alongside one another having fun.
