The celebration sun
We have some gorgeous equipment at BestStart Montessori Johnsonville. Recently Rachel our centre manager purchased a “celebration sun” which we use to learn about the passage of time.
Firstly we sang our seasons song as we placed the 4 seasons in the right order. Then the older children that are able to read helped the younger children to find the correct months and then place them in the right order.
Rachel lit the candle for the sun in the middle of the mat, and we discussed what was happening in each picture.
We’re very lucky to have some beautiful Montessori equipment in our classrooms – it really makes learning relevant to our interests.
