Here at BestStart Ngatai Road, we have been learning all about Matariki and the nine stars for the month of June.

We have been creating beautiful creative artworks to proudly display on our walls. We have made a night sky with stars scattered around, a Korowai, which was a collaborative effort from all tamariki, and a big mural of Papatῡᾱnuku, and learnt some songs to remember the names of the stars.

We created a sailing ship to go and catch fish for a feast, learnt how to peel and chop vegetables and to top off the celebrations, a homemade soup made from vegetables brought in from our Whanau and delicious fry bread.
