September has been a busy month for our tamariki in the Nursery!  It is has been wonderful to see our tamariki returning from the lockdown period, happy to engage in play and see their friends and kaiako once again.

Lately, we have been enjoying doing lots of sensory activities such as korihori pōrehe, messy play as this is a nice calming way for us to engage in small group activities as well as developing many motor skills in the process.

Messy play is a fantastic way for our tamariki to learn about different textures and materials as well as learning alongside others.

Look at the cornflour gloop we made and the fun our tamariki had!  Messy play gives us the opportunity to korero with our tamariki about what they can see and feel as they test out the mixture.

Another day we set up flour in our tub outside and put swats in the tub. Our tamariki loved touching the soft powder with their hands and slapping the swats into the powder substance.
