At BestStart Te Awamutu the Sprouts Room has moved their focus from the Wonders of Nature to The Magic of Movement to support the tamariki’s current interest. Cars, dancing and flow of water have been a big focus in the room and on a beautiful sunny day one of the Kaiako thought it would be the perfect opportunity to explore movement in another form. The parachute came out and the tamariki couldn't wait to get involved. They sat down and had a little discussion about how the size of arm movements could affect the height of the ball. The tamariki thought that the bigger the arm movement, the more the balls would fly high in the sky. They then decided to test this theory and piled all the balls in the middle. The tamariki found a handle and started to move the parachute. Small movements lead to big movements and the balls gained some height and there was so much excitement. This was the perfect opportunity to investigate how different speeds and a range of arm movements affect the bouncing of the balls on top and the tamariki had a blast doing it.
