Here at BestStart Marshland Road we love to move our whole bodies through music and movement. Music and movement is a wonderful opportunity for nga tamariki to develop and learn as they can learn so much from grooving to music playing.

Music encourages nga tamariki to move to the beat of the music through using their whole body to dance. It encourages communication skills as the nga tamariki sing along to the songs and create their own songs. Music also immerses them in a language rich environment. It encourages social skills as they dance with and alongside their peers, they also imitate the actions of those around them. Music encourages nga tamariki to develop spatial awareness of those around them while they are dancing.

Through providing music for the children to dance to we create an environment where nga tamariki can develop and learn holistically. Where through music communication, physical development and social skills are all woven together as they explore the music.
