The preschool tamariki at BestStart Willowpark have been learning about sustainability. As part of this, we have been learning about recycling, papatūānuku, growing vegetables and getting to know our neighbourhood wildlife.

The tamariki are enjoying watching our swan plants grow big and strong and learning about the life cycle of the butterfly. They have been learning about the different life stages of this animal and marvelling in the wonders of it all. We cannot wait to see what surprises our swan plants bring us.

To help the children develop working theories around this new knowledge they have been doing observation drawings. This has helped the children to learn about how different shapes and lines can be used to tell a story or express an idea.
