The Potae Project
Children sometimes refuse the hats their parent sends from home, they prefer the tiny BestStart potae that does not cover much; we have bigger sizes, but they get to choose from the kete the one they want to wear.
Here at BestStart Everglade Babies, we uphold the mana of every child, by giving them agency to create and act on their own ideas, develop knowledge and skills in areas that interest them, and, increasingly, make decisions and judgments on matters that relate to them.
One child, in particular, has made taken their favorite potae, and added lace trimmings of their choice were sewn into the hat brim to provide extra coverage, thus keeping them safe from the sun. Here at BestStart Everglade Babies, we keep our tamariki safe by making sure they are wearing hats and sunscreen when they are outside.
