The red poppy has become a symbol of war remembrance the world all over. People in many countries wear the poppy to remember those who died in war or are serving in the armed forces.

Coming towards Anzac Day here in Aotearoa, children have had the opportunity to make some poppies today to remember those who have sacrificed their lives for our better world.

We used pipe cleaners for the stem, red cellophane and tissue paper for the flower and little black pompoms in the middle. Some were clever, they decided to create themselves a poppy ring!

Hope these poppies have lasted all day and now somewhere in your homes!
