Today is World Water Day
This
years theme is ‘What does water mean to you’. We asked this question to some of
the children and these were their answers:
“Water means healthy,”
“It means we need to grow plants so we can grow more food,”
“It comes to the beach and toilet and the bath,”
“We could grow apples and bananas and lots of different kinds of fruit so we can have lunch,”
“Taupo [as in Lake Taupo]”
“Water comes from down there [points to water drum],”
“Water in the bath,”
“Out the tap. That’s water play, aye?”
“Water in the water jug. It needs more,”
What amazing answers, we clearly know lots about water. What a wonderful way to be kaitiaki / protectors of our environment. Kia kaha, tamariki ma.
