Here at Best Start Palmerston North, our Akonga in the Children's Preschool Room has been investigating the power of trajectory. These learning experiences have supported our centre learning priorities of Aroha, Manatikatanga, and whakaute. We have noticed by communicating and living our priorities, we have seen a lot of movement and joy in the children's learning.

Some skills that have developed through this are turn-taking, active listening, trial and error, and active wonderment. Akonga have explored their understanding of moving parts and, to strengthen their working theories, we as kaiako have been determined to highlight our physical and playful side when amongst our tamariki by joining in on the target ball shooting, pendulum painting, and upside-down umbrella basketball game.

These intentional teaching moments have extended children's sense of belonging, fostered trust in new transitioning children, and the most important thing of all - we have been having fun! The fun we have been having has delighted and inspired our families who have been adding ideas via informal conversation and informed teachers that our 1+1 conversations are having a wonderful impact on the learning environment.

Well done to the Children's Preschool Room!
