The Big House love to transform their sandpit. This time they turned it into their very own sand kitchen and café.

Resources such as bowls, jugs, spoons, baking dishes were provided in the kitchen. On the tables were plates, cups, and teapots as well as some menus and pens.

I could tell a lot of our children have been to a café before as they knew exactly what to do.

Storm was the first to take charge, showing those sitting down the menu and asking what they wanted. Soon the others joined in, some busy in the kitchen making yummy food and drinks for those waiting at the tables.

Learning outcomes for this experience :

· Children are making links with the wider world, seeing family cook, going to cafes and restaurants.

· Sand allows and encourages the making and creating of an imaginary world and stories
