At BestStart Burnside we have been strengthening our Be School Ready process through a strong internal evaluation process and have been working closely with local school as to what a good Be School Ready programme looks like. This has lead to a wide range of learning for teachers and for parents and we are all feeling positive about the practices and learning we are focusing on within the Kahu room.

Along with our focus the tuakana within our Kahu room always enjoy being able to get across to our local school Roydvale School and getting involved in there Friday Discovery time. Once a term our 4.5 year olds get their bright BestStart vests on and venture across the big field to get involved in what the new entrant class has to offer.

On this occasion our Kahu friends got to make finger puppets, play with mobilo, cars, trains, practice their letter writing, talk with kids that were bigger and older than them and then at the very end of the visit we were allowed to have a short 5 minute play on their MASSIVE playground which the children loved. We are already itching to get over there for our next visit!
