Beststart Papamoa Plaza Invited the Beststart Papamoa centres to support our transition to school evening.

Trina the lead teacher in the Tohora ruma has an Inquiry of transitioning to school so she worked hard and invited Kirsten and Miriam from Tahatai Coast School. Cath from Te Manawa o Papamoa School. Megan from Te Akau Ki Papamoa School. Angie from Papamoa Primary School.

We had Beststart Palm springs, Beststart coast boulevard, Beststart Doncaster and Beststart Parton road, all bring some whānau along to a question and answer evening.

A great attendance by both Kaiako and whānau, all schools approached turned up for the evening.

Each school introduced them selves and explained their schools transition procedure, then we opened the floor to questions.

What we did discover was our international parents don’t know the working of the New Zealand schooling system, they asked questions about how does each school work through levels. When could they start? Visits before starting.

To develop a booklet to help whānau have a more basic understanding of the process to enrol and transition to school.

Trina and myself will work through the questions asked and review what happens with the help of Kristen from Tahatai Coast school.
