Trip to the Art Gallery
The teachers in the Preschool rooms have been working with children on 'creative art'. Children have been very busy creating amazing collages, continuing their interests in creative arts and the kaiako thought it would be amazing to make a collage with the tamariki representing all of our amazing cultures. Children brought pictures, materials, and childhood memories to include in the collage which was displayed around the room for the children to explore.
We explored all of the amazing cultures that make up our BestStart Stoddard Road family. The benefits of including the creative arts in early childhood education are numerous, ranging from the physical to the emotional to the mental. To further extend their interests in creative arts, we planned the trip to the Auckland Art Gallery.
A big thank you to Hedda (parent) who works at the Art Gallery for making this visit possible for our children. The Auckland Art Gallery is a cultural leader in Aotearoa New Zealand. Their purpose is to be a place for art and a catalyst of ideas. This was a great opportunity for our Tamariki, Whanau, and Kaiako to be provided with fresh ways to think about art and how to participate in creativity. It was a wonderful experience for all of us and it couldn't have been possible without the support of our Whanau.
