In November, BestStart South Road welcomed Little Dog Barking LTD into our centre for the third consecutive year. This year’s puppet show was called Turn On The Light. A story about a tamaiti who is scared of the dark. The clever, and hilarious storyline held the attention of our tamariki as they watched and discovered that there was nothing to be afraid of in the dark. Once again, our tamariki were captivated by the beautiful puppets and the puppeteer’s skills and creative story lines.

We love taking the opportunity to offer a range of different experiences for the tamariki and whanau here at Best Start South Road. We welcomed whanau to come along and join us. Puppets and stories are an excellent way to enhance children’s literacy skills and encourage a love for reading, listening, and being involved.

We noticed that imaginative play is a common focus for many of our tamariki and this type of experience has enhanced this play and given inspiration. Learning through play is a key value here at BestStart South Road and one that we highly encourage. We are looking forward to next year’s production and can’t wait to see what the producers come up with next.
