Our nursery room children have been really interested in animals especially sea animals. The teachers have provided a range of activities' for our young tamariki to explore and discover all the different creatures and elements to the sea. As you can see from the beautiful photos, the children have been given many opportunities to look, feel, create, touch and explore different textures using different types of resources and media.

Our tamariki loved playing with the sand, water and the sea animals, creating their very own special sea life. The children were given the opportunity to see and play with the different sea creature. While playing with the sea creatures, the teachers have been using simple vocabulary to name and describe each sea creature.

Children have then used art and different recycled craft materials to create their own sea creatures to out on display around the room. One of the activities' which the children loved was creating a jelly fish out of paint, plates and crepe streamers. It is wonderful to see all the children given an opportunity to explore their interests through different types of play.

Learning through play helps children be creative, allows children to explore and problem solve but also gives them the confidence to work alongside others through meaningful interactions.
