Unique Matariki Celebration
At Beststart Kilmarnock, we value biculturalism and respect Te Tiriti O Waitangi. Matariki celebration is a unique cultural event that we celebrate annually with our whanau and tamariki.
This year we held our Matariki event at the centre in the evening and welcomed all the children and parents/whanau's participation with a Karakia in our foyer.
Children and families had fun looking for the stars with their torches and walking through the dark classrooms that were decorated with lights. Children and families then enjoyed a time gathering together in the classroom and enjoying some yummy warm vegetable soup and bread before going home.
We enjoyed our time being together with our whanau and developing our whanau relationship during this special event.
