BestStart Glen Eden kaiako and tamariki are discovering what makes the Cook Islands unique by participating in stories, music and dance. The kaiako organised some tapa art, dress up and paper tivaevae art. Tamariki performed a dance to the music and explored the values of diversity with respect. In celebrating and learning about culture, tamariki learn that identity and belonging are key to thriving. It is a learning goal that tamariki make connections between, people, places and things in their world.

Inspired by Tokyo 2020 Olympics, our pre-schoolers took part in mini olympics which included a range of physical activities and games. Olympic celebration is a great message to share with children as there is a sense of unity and participation as countries from all over the world come together to celebrate their cultural diversity and talents. One of our learning goals for tamariki is to move confidently and challenge themselves physically.
