As part of our curriculum and showing our love (aroha) and respect (manaakitanga) to our children (tamariki) and families (whaanau), we did a little treat with some coffee sachets and home-baked cookies and lollies for them with a little note of love.

All our tamariki were busy the whole week preparing cards and little gifts for their family. Lots of conversations were happening while the Kaiako facilitated the activities. Tamariki were curious so they asked lots of questions and connections were made from home to the Centre, the wider community, and the outside world.

These experiences give opportunities for children to understand the events and also develop their craft skills and cognitive skills in memorising and recalling things. The tamariki were encouraged to use their skills and abilities, and prior knowledge to make cards and craft for their parents’ gifts.

Our vision is "Confident Learners for life" where the tamariki develop independence, responsibility, creative thinking and a passion for lifelong learning. We believe that positive relationships (whanaungatanga) between tamariki, Kaiako and whanau ensures the best possible outcomes for the tamariki and the little treats and gifts and smiles on the whanau have said it all. We will continue to bring different opportunities for the tamariki and whanau to gain from the learning and development opportunities provided.
