Valentines is about celebrating love. To reflect this love for one another in our Harakeke learning space, we developed and maintained reciprocal loving and caring partnership between tamariki, teachers and children, whanau, and the community.

On Tuesday 14th February we celebrated Valentine’s Day and our Big Heart Day for our village. To celebrate this day the tamariki and kaiako dressed in red. Olivia made some red pikelets with the children which we all enjoyed for morning tea. At mat time the tamariki enjoyed expressing themselves orally at mat time by singing waiata. Tamariki also created art to express their ideas of Valentine, exploring their imagination with the red playdough and water play, and lots of singing and dancing throughout the day.

We also have nurses who turned up to demonstrate their duties of care and promote the spirit of valentine through general check-ups of their heart.
