Visit from Blaze the Dog
Over lockdown we noticed the big interest the Toddler Room tamariki have in animals! Through BestStart @ Home both kaiako and children shared the pets they had at home. It was cool to see the way we were able to make connection in this way from at home and the interest and excitement from the children.
In response to this, since being back at preschool we have continued to explore animals here. We have loved learning about all kinds of animals. The children have been sharing their knowledge as well as demonstrating curiosity to learn more. We have explored animals through art, stories, looking at maps to see where the animals live and exploring their different habitats.
Our highlight however, has been having one of our Toddler Room kaiako bring their dog into preschool! We had all met Blaze through video during lockdown, and there had been a lot of interest and conversations about him since then. The children were so excited to meet Blaze in real life!
