Getting involved with our local community is what it is all about in our Kindy. We work closely with parents, whānau and our wider community to broaden childrens’ horizons and expand our neighbourhood connections.

Senior Constable Matt Green, School community constable came to see us today and taught us about Safety and Respect—Whakaute. He showed us his vest, and hat that police officers must wear. We all got the chance to try police hats, vests, and even get the chance to sit in his car.

The children had a lot of questions for officer Matt - we may have a few future police recruits I think!”  Police officer visit helped children develop their working theories about the role that police play in the real world, as well as their values for what is right and wrong. We are so very proud that our Johnstones Road Kindy is a place where children, teachers, parents, and community are so engaged with each other.
