Recently we took a small group of children that are soon to turn five to visit one of our local primary schools, Beckenham Primary. We went to the school to show the children what it is like in a primary school environment and develop a positive relationship with our local school.

During the walk the children enjoyed conversations about what they think the classroom will look like, what some of the classroom rules might be, what they saw on their travels and how excited they were to be out and about in their community.

When we had arrived at the classroom we were very excited to see a lot of our friends that came to preschool with us. This brought many smiles as we were all reunited.

We joined the class for a small group time, learning who was there for the day and who was absent. Then we sung some songs about the alphabet. After a small break and a play with our friends we were very lucky to be treated to viewing a school performance by the students of the school. Clearly a lot of effort was put into this show and it was amazing for all of us to watch.

What a wonderful adventure for our children and a great way to see what it is like at school. We look forward to our next visit soon.
