Visiting our Local Wairakei Primary Schools

Being part of our local community is important to us here at BestStart Wairakei. We have great relationships with two of our local primary schools, Isleworth and Roydvale where we embark on regular excursions with our four-year-olds. During these excursions, the tamariki are immersed in the classroom environment where they are able to take part in everything from discovery time, drawing, reading, group discussions, physical activity, and of course checking out the playgrounds.

The tamariki are always up for a challenge on the big climbing equipment, slides, and bars they find at school. Our tamariki are always excited to head off on these adventures and our local schools have the most welcoming teachers and students. Another special part of visiting our local primary schools is meeting back up with friends who have already transitioned to school. This is always a highlight for our tamariki and a special time for our preschool leavers where they can become a leader and show their friends around big school.

These visits support learning across all strands of Te Whariki, in particular, the Belonging strand - Mana whenua as our Tamariki make connections with the people, places, and things around them in our local community. We are always excited to embark on our next excursion to school.
