Here at BestStart Kamo Central, actively engaging with our local community is an important part of our curriculum. On a bi-termly basis, we reach out to our local fire station (conveniently located across the road). We visit the fire station, explore the station and the trucks and engage with conversation with several firemen and firewomen that have volunteered there time to engage with us. These partnerships within our community result in sharing and maximizing resources, helping our children learning about developing healthy behaviours. They play an important role in development of our children's feelings of belonging and security. Children thrive in an environment of mutually supportive and caring relationships. For this reason developing a sense of community within our service is crucial.

Once back at the centre, after our enjoyable visit. Firewoman Ellie gifted us some colouring pages and stickers to take home. She also gave us a smoke alarm to discuss at our mat time.
