Visiting the local Wetlands

Visiting the local Wetlands in our area is a great opportunity for our tamariki to learn our mana whenua being in Lincoln.

The historical landmarks and story behind this place allow our tamariki to learn about what is important for this community and how it developed through time. We also get to meet the local wildlife that co-exists with us in the area and talk about ways we can be a kaitiaki (guardian) for our taiao (natural environment).

Manaakitanga is a strong core value we promote to our tamariki, and trips and outings like this extend their experience of caring for each other to the bigger part of the community.

In BestStart Te Whariki, we aim to provide our tamariki and their whānau a strong sense of hapori (sense of community) and mana whenua through learning and making connections to people and places in our community.
