We marked this day by celebrating it over the whole week. In order to honour the treaty, our tamariki explored about this Agreement as well as the Maori culture. The children weaved the harakiki (flax), we read about the history of the treaty. Maori art- the children painted koru, twists, or just created their own designs with clay!

We tried our hands on Rakau (stick) play, in which the sticks are passed to each other in time to a song.  Children engaged in various activities during the Waitangi Day celebration, at the same time explored and learnt about the Maori culture, great work!! In the spirit of Treaty of Waitangi, (which is a agreement between the two groups), we made our room treaty, we talked about respecting each other and being kind to our friends.
