We had lots of fun celebrating Waitangi day in the Infants room at BestStart Tawa. We like to incorporate waiata- songs, karakia- grace, kupa -words and phrases, kakahu - traditional clothing such as korowai and puipui. We enjoy exploring art with traditional Maori print and symbols, along with practicing our poi skills throughout out our daily teaching practice . On Waitangi day we ensured we celebrated this special occasion by exploring all of these elements, there were plenty of kani kani-dancing and smiles happening throughout our day.
