At Murphys park, we understand and value that play is a heart of learning, and children's natural curiosity to learn can be supported through so many different ways through play. Water play is one of 16 areas of play to enhance their curiosity and learning as it supports tamaraiki to gain social skills through interacting with their peers and teachers, develop concepts of science and maths including cause and effect, measuring, tipping, and pouring.

Tamariki also explores sensory exploration with the different sensations of cold and warm water against their skin. Through this exploration, they are developing hand-eye coordination and a sense of belonging and contribution as they explore with and alongside each other.

Last but not least is the fun, calming nature of water relaxes their senses and along with other learning areas they can learn to just relax, be themselves and can have as much fun as they want.
