During the warmer months we love getting outside and into the wai (water). There is nothing like watching a group of young tamariki exploring and having fun. The giggles and sounds of joy and glee that fill the environment is just warming and fill us kaiako (teachers) with so much joy and aroha (love). The tamariki (children) are such busy learners during this experience.

Tamariki (children) learn things like social skills, gaining an understanding of things like boundries like tamariki not enjoying the big splashes and who does, as well as consent again, who wants to be splashed and who doesn't enjoy that experience. Tamariki (children) begin to learn and understand working theories, learning things like what floats, we learnt the the colourful balls like to float and bounce to the surface of the wai, water. Through this tamairki are learning about gravity, what goes up must come down, we know that when we throw the balls that they are come back down.

Through this water play experince we are busy learning so much. More than you could imagine. We understand at Tawa South how much tarmiki (children) learn though play and how invaluable these experiences are for thier growth and development. All through having so much fun and bringing not only the tamariki (children) so much joy but also the kaiako (teachers).
