We All Love Mothers!
We were excited to be able to invite our mothers into our Centre again this year as celebrating the importance of mothers and the work they do is very important to us at BestStart Montessori Bethlehem. As a team, we pride ourselves in supporting all mothers who care for their children so that they can feel confident when they are away from them.
This year the children prepared for this event by baking scones and learning special songs to sing to their mothers. This included "Tauranga Moana", a locally relevant waiata that mentions local iwi and special places to us as a community. They also learned "I love Mummy" which brought a tear to a few eyes in the room as the children held their hands up in a heart shape as they sang.
By strengthening these connections with our families regularly, we are able to work collaboratively with parents to support their child's learning. Each child has individual learning goals agreed upon between their parents and their teachers/kaiako. This event also provides an opportunity for us to encourage our families to participate and contribute to our curriculum. We have wider community links to the Ngati Ranginui iwi through our community of learning/Kahui Ako and also to the local primary schools where our children go on to attend.
