We were so delighted to hear that Auckland was able to move into Alert Level 3 because this meant we were able to return to the centre and open for our whanau that needed our support.

Level three is different to what we are used to,  but we have done it before and our tamariki are quick to adapt to all the changes. A learning goal from the Te Whāraki, the NZ curriculum is for tamariki to understand how things work here and adapt to change.

In the kiwi room we still have our regular Zoom calls each week which our tamariki look forward to, these calls have helped to maintain our relationships with those still at home.

We are continuing with our regular activities such as arts and craft and playdough with a few changes. Each child has their own board/tray or paint pots with resources to ensure the health and safety of each child and these are washed or discarded when finished. Reading and creating art, enables tamariki to make sense of their world by generating and refining their working theories.

It is wonderful having our tamariki here and supporting them in their learning journey as we navigate this new normal together.
