We celebrated Te Wiki o te Reo Māori

We celebrated Te Wiki o te Reo Māori, Māori language week.

Māori Language Week is part of a larger effort to revitalize the Māori language and encourage everyone to learn the language and experience the rich culture of the region.

Waitemata (our Preschool) spent the week engaging and interacting with a wide range of activities such as waiata, painting, reading legendary stories, Koru making with clay & playdough, face painting, and lastly, a beautiful dress-up day on Friday. We had lots of fun indeed!

Rewarewa (toddlers) Kaiako (teachers) have been using te reo daily to enhance their Te reo and also encouraging tamariki (children) to learn and speak simple words. The children have been listening and enjoying waiata (songs). Our toddlers love to dance with poi and do the actions. The teachers have been teaching children names of colours and counting in Māori.

Our tamariki took part in flax weaving, paper weaving and Māori pattern painting as well
